Thank You, Guys

Drew this on a whim this morning after playing a lot of Kirby Super Star with my brother yesterday. That has and always will be one of my favorite games, definitely my favorite Kirby game.

I always thought, as most people do now I guess, that Meta Knight was so cool. I think a lot of that came from how he was portrayed in Revenge of Meta Knight - not as the cool, aloof and uncaring rival/villain he's portrayed as in the anime and newer games, but as a still thoroughly cool villain/rival who cares about his crew and has feelings.

The title comes from a line that he says in the original, which was apparently changed for Super Star Ultra - which I think is sad. As the ship is falling apart, Meta Knight tells his crew to abandon the ship and save themselves. With the exception of the captain - the bird guy - who evacuates, all the rest of his crew refuse, saying they want to stay and help their leader, despite endangering their own lives. After that, Meta Knight says "Thank you, guys" and it is one of the most tender video game moments ever~

I still drew the captain even though he evacuated because I wanted to draw the whole crew. I think the Ax Knight is my favorite (the skull-face viking helmet one), because he's adorable AND delivers my - and my brother's - favorite line of "Oh no! Those are my hidden tomatoes!" which apparently also got changed in Super Star Ultra. D:

Anyway... I've been in a nostalgic video game mood lately and since this is definitely one of my favorite games... I thought I'd share some art with you~!

I really think this needs a background of the Halberd and a sunset sky and smoke rising from the partially-destroyed ship, but I didn't have the skill to do it. OTL
